Fake Char Dham Yatra helicopter booking website takes payment and disappears

Fake websites and WhatsApp agents sell Char Dham helicopter tickets and travel packages, collect UPI payment upfront, then vanish. Kedarnath helicopter tickets are sold only through heliyatra.irctc.co.in.

Also known as: Chardham helicopter booking scam, fake Kedarnath helicopter ticket, fake Char Dham travel agent, Badrinath hotel booking fraud, Char Dham VIP darshan scam

What to do right now

  1. 1 Book Kedarnath helicopter tickets only at heliyatra.irctc.co.in — there is no authorised alternative channel
  2. 2 For Char Dham hotels and dharmashalas, verify directly with the property using numbers from uttarakhandtourism.gov.in — never trust a booking agent's PDF confirmation without calling the hotel
  3. 3 Before paying any travel agent, verify their IATA or IATO registration number on the official travel association website
  4. 4 Pay only through official website payment gateways — never via personal UPI IDs, WhatsApp QR codes, or informal bank transfers
  5. 5 If you have already paid and suspect fraud, call your bank immediately to attempt a UPI reversal and file a complaint at https://cybercrime.gov.in
  6. 6 Report at https://cybercrime.gov.in or call 1930 (national cyber helpline).

Red flags

  • Kedarnath helicopter tickets are sold exclusively through heliyatra.irctc.co.in — no agent, regardless of claims, is authorised to sell them through any other channel
  • Agent asks for payment via a personal UPI ID, WhatsApp QR code, or informal bank transfer — official portals use verified payment gateways, never personal numbers
  • Agent says the IRCTC portal is 'sold out' but they have special access through a private network or government connection
  • Offers of 'VIP darshan,' 'guaranteed helicopter tickets,' or 'free helicopter services' do not exist on any official channel
  • No GST receipt, company registration, or verifiable office address is provided after payment

  • Haj / Umra fake travel agent (Meerut, June 2026): scammer poses as licensed Umra travel agent, collects ₹2–₹5 lakh per pilgrim for visa + package, then provides counterfeit documents. Multiple families in Meerut lost ₹18 lakh combined; no visas materialised. Authorised agents only via Haj Committee of India at hajcommittee.gov.in.
